Dine's Photos
|
Dine writes on a chalkboard at the front entrance to the "concession" where he lives. About seven families live in the concession.
One of the family's goats licks a bowl clean! The large wooden container in the background is used to pound manioc (or cassava root) into p¬te, which Dine and Sadam eat often. There is a chicken in the photo too!
Dine and Sadam eat p¬te with a younger boy. After the manioc is grounded, it is boiled until the powder is solid and it is eaten with the hands. It tastes like Cream of Wheat with hot sauce.
The boys play soccer.
Dine and some of his friends draw water from the well. All of the families who live in the concession draw water from the same well.
Dine, Sadam, and some of their friends with one of their goats. Notice the dishes to the left of the boys. All of the cooking and dishwashing are done outside, on ground-level.
