Peru The kids of Peru: Massiel Peru has a diverse climate which varies from tropical in the east to dry desert in the west, and temperate to frigid in the Andes. Peru has a western coastal plain (costa), high and rugged Andes in the center (sierra), and an eastern lowland forest in the Amazon Basin (selva).
