The kids of Vanuatu:

Ellison
Georgie

Vanuatu is a group of over eighty islands in the South Pacific Ocean. It is located about three-quarters of the way from Hawaii to Australia. It is part of a region in the Pacific Ocean called Oceania. Oceania is a region of the world that includes many island nations and is comprised of many cultures, languages, and people. It covers a vast land area, and all of its island nations are unique. Oceania is often grouped with Asia into a geographical region called "Asia Pacific," but it is very much its own special area of our world. We can see this by looking at a map of the region, and looking at the thousands of islands that we call "Oceania."

Vanuatu has more than 100 local languages, and many people in Vanuatu speak three or four languages. One of the national languages is Bislama. Ellison and Georgie were interviewed in Bislama. Some people also speak English and French. People from Vanuatu are called Ni-Vanuatu.

The capital of Vanuatu is Port Vila, which is on the island of Efate.
