Vietnam The kids of Vietnam: Phuong Vietnam is located in southeastern Asia. Much of the country is surrounded by water--Vietnam borders the South China Sea, the Gulf of Tonkin, and the Gulf of Thailand. It also borders the countries of Cambodia, Laos and China. The weather in the southern part of Vietnam is tropical. In the north, there are sometimes monsoons. The northern rainy season, which can be very hot, lasts from the middle of May to the middle of September. The warm, dry season lasts from the middle of October to the middle of March. The official language in Vietnam is Vietnamese. English is also widely spoken as a second language. Many people also speak French, Chinese, and Khmer.
