Interview a Child
|
Thank you for your interest in contributing to Kids Around the World! The following needs to be included to create a complete profile:
Tape of the interview
Full transcribed interview translated into English, if needed
Background information from the interviewer about the child's home, school, and family
Digital or print photos of child doing daily tasks

A photo log describing each photo
Consent forms to be signed by subjects photographed
Each of the profiles on Kids Around the World targets multiple senses by including written text, audio clips of the interview, and photos of the child doing daily tasks. To download one document with all the information on all the materials you will need to complete an interview, click here.
Interviews using the following questions can be conducted with children ages 5 through 12 in their native language and then later translated to English. Click here for the interview questions in printable form. Contact us with questions or to submit the finished components of a profile.
Interview questions:
- What is your name? Can you write or spell your name for me? How old are you?
- Where do you live? What is your home like?
- What are your favorite things to do? Do you do them alone or with others?
- What do you like to eat? What do you dislike eating?
- What do you think you will do when you grow up?
- What does your family celebrate? How do they celebrate?
- What do you do on your birthday?
- Who is in your family?
- What is your favorite color? Why?
- Do you have things to do every day that you don't like doing? What are they?
- What is your favorite thing to wear? Why?
- Who is the most important person in your life? Why?
- What would be the best thing someone could give you?
- What is your day like? (When do you get up? What do you do all day? When do you go to sleep? Etc.)
- What questions do you have for children in other countries?
In addition, interviewers should answer the following questions about the child interviewed:
Questions for the Interviewer:- Who does the child live with and what do they do?
- Why does the family live where they live and what is it like?
- What kinds of clothes do the children wear and why?
- Any other information you can provide about the region or the child's everyday life, or additional details about topics addressed in the interview. The more information you can give, the better!
